Fashion Law in Africa
BERNICE OFUNRE ASEIN

While intellectual property often dominates conversations around fashion law, this book goes further —aggregating legal, policy, and institutional frameworks across the continent.
“Fashion in Africa is more than expression — it is enterprise, culture, and identity woven into law. This book is a blueprint for protecting what we create and building what we deserve.”
Fashion Law in Africa: A Comprehensive Guide for Lawyers, Entrepreneurs, and Industry Leaders is a pioneering publication that takes a holistic approach to understanding the legal landscape of Africa’s fashion industry.
While intellectual property often dominates conversations around fashion law, this book goes further—aggregating legal, policy, and institutional frameworks across the continent that shape how fashion is created, protected, and commercialized. It explores the intersection of law with business, culture, sustainability, innovation, and trade, offering insights that are both practical and policy- relevant. Designed as a resource for legal practitioners, creative entrepreneurs, policymakers, academics, and industry stakeholders, Fashion Law in Africa provides a contextual and forward-thinking guide for navigating and influencing the future of fashion on the continent.
This book is more than a reference — it’s a call to structure, support, and scale Africa’s fashion ecosystem through law and leadership
